Gun Permits

 

 

            Permits for the purchase, lease, rent, or transfer of firearms are available in the Sheriff’s Office for residents of Wayne County. (Residents living within the city limits of Wayne must obtain firearms permits from the Wayne Police Department at City Hall, 306 N Pearl Street.)

 

The cost of the firearms permit is $5.00 in the Sheriff’s Office. This fee is set by State statute. Picture identification is required at the time of application. There is a mandatory 72-hour waiting period during which time a record check will be performed.

 

This firearms permit does not allow you to carry a concealed weapon.
