COUNTY TREASURER
Duties:
1. To collect all revenues for the County
2. To bill and collect all real estate and personal taxes in
the County
3. Register all motor vehicles with tax situs in the County
4. To issue drivers licenses, CDLs, learner permits, ID cards,
school permits, etc
5. To disperse collections to the proper political subdivisions
6. Boat registrations
7. Snowmobile registrations
Real Estate Taxes - Personal Property
Taxes:

Notices are sent in
December

Delinquent 1st
half: May 1st
·
Delinquent 2nd
half: September 1st
·
Delinquent real
estate taxes and delinquent special assessments are advertised the first full
three weeks in February in the local newspaper. Public sale of real estate is held the first Monday of March each
year
·
County distress
warrants are issued on delinquent personal taxes by November 1st of
each year
·

Driver's Licenses Exams:

Proof of ID and age
is required for all permits, licenses and identification cards
·
A social security
number is required for all permits and licenses
·
New Residents must
get a new Nebraska driver's license within the thirty day period after moving
into the State of Nebraska
·
Driver's licenses may
be renewed in a ninety day period before the expiration date. No extra time is allowed after the
expiration date
·
Nebraska residents
who change addresses within Nebraska must get a new driver's license within 60
days after moving to their new address
Motor
Vehicle License and Tax:

New residents must
license their motor vehicles within thirty days after moving into the State of
Nebraska
·
Sales Tax must be
paid on all new or used vehicles within the first thirty days following the
purchase in order to prevent a penalty
·
Proof of insurance in
required to license a new vehicle, or to renew one. The insurance card must include an effective date and an
expiration date.
Payments may be
remitted in cash, check, debit or credit card.
The debit or credit cards must have the Visa or MasterCard symbol on the
front of the card.
